Metals & Drainage
- Aggregate – Used for drainage and ground cover, perfect for temporary fixes and rural driveways available in 10mm, 20mm and a 30/40mm.
- Light Weight Ash – A porous material that is very light. Ideal for backfilling and retaining walls.
- Concrete Mix – Premixed materials that you just have to add cement to for concreting. Ideal for small slabs and post holes.
- ¼ Minus – Also known as crusher dust or packing sand. Take your pick on what you call it! Ideal for under-slab filler.
- Roadbase – 20mm aggregate down to dust size components that combine to make a perfect mix for a solid foundation. Great for under driveways, pebble paths and retaining walls.

What's the difference between cement and concrete?
Cement is a key ingredient in concrete. It acts as the binding agent that holds together sand, gravel, and water to form concrete. On its own, cement is a fine powder that sets when mixed with water. Concrete, on the other hand, is the final hardened product used in footings, slabs, posts, and other structural applications. You can buy premixed concrete for small jobs or mix your own using cement, sand, and aggregate.
Can I use crusher dust for pavers?
Yes, crusher dust is a popular bedding material for pavers. It compacts well, creating a solid and level surface that supports weight and resists shifting. Crusher dust also allows for good drainage and helps prevent weed growth between pavers. When using crusher dust, it’s important to level and compact it thoroughly and use an edge restraint to keep the surface stable. For the best results, lay it over a compacted sub-base such as road base.
How much road base do I need?
To calculate how much road base you need, measure the length, width, and depth of your area in metres. Multiply these together to get the volume in cubic metres (m³). For example, a 5m x 3m driveway at 0.1m depth would require 1.5m³ of road base. It's recommended to add 5–10% extra to allow for compaction and surface levelling. If you're unsure, most suppliers can help you estimate based on your plans.
